Welcome
Ten Island Baptist Church came into existance around 1862 in a small log cabin during the Civil War and was organized in 1864. A larger church was constructed next to the log cabin in 1868 to accomadate a larger capacity. It wasn't until 1966 that the church had to be re-constructed to meet a more stable place of worship. The founder of the church painted a picture on the wall of the church which read "Heaven is Our Home...Come and go with Us". This painting was cut out of the wall and placed in a frame and it hangs behind the pulpit in the sanctuary today. The building that is now the church was re-constructed after a tornado took off most of the roof and damaged the sanctuary in 1994 on Palm Sunday (Pictured Below) with only minor injuries to its members. Some of its members from the tornado are still present today.
The people here at Ten Island love and trust in the Lord for all their needs and welcome any that grace them with their prescence. Our mission is to first reach the community of Ohatchee with loving arms and to see the whole world through the eyes of Jesus. We want to do that as Jesus did, by serving! God has graciously given us this ministry to glorify him and to be a light in a world full of darkness.
Dear Website Visitor,
As the pastor, I wanted to send you a few words of encouragement on your daily walk with Christ Jesus. These days it is hard to make ends meet, especially spiritually, and I want you to know how much we love and care for you and your family. There is one that loves you more than any one else can and that is Jesus Christ. The punishment and death he suffered just so you could have eternal life with him is proof of the love he has for you. John 3:16 says it all in a nut shell, (“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”) How great it is to have someone that loves you that much!
Believing is not just saying that you believe, but it is also living it. We should strive each day to live the life God has commanded us to live, whether it is at work, home, or church. Your walk with Christ means just as much now as it ever has, no matter how old or young you are. Even the situations you are currently dealing with are no reason to think that your witness is meaningless. We love you, and we want to share in your hurts and success. Hebrews 10: 24-26, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Here at Ten Island Baptist Church, our motives are not to “steal sheep”, but to make sure you have a church that you can call home. The fellowship of Christians is edifying to our souls and helps us to hold each other accountable in love through Christ Jesus. I want to say a special prayer for you right now from your brother in Christ:
“Heavenly Father, I thank you for this child of God that is receiving this word, and I pray that their life will be a living testimony of how wonderful your love is for them. Father, I also pray that you bless them in everything they do, in every aspect of their lives. Lord I also ask for you to anoint their household, that they may see the world through your eyes and that you will give them the encouragement to do your will. These things we ask in Jesus holy name, Amen!”
With Love,
Pastor Lee Bridges
